Dht 11 is a most commonly used temperature and humidity sensor which is used to detect the temperature and humidity around the surrounding. It uses a capacitive humidity sensor and a thermistor to measure the surrounding air, and spits out a digital signal on the data pin.

How Dht 11 works:

The percentage of water present in air is called Humidity and water is called as vapor.So whenever the temperature is increased in air then more water vapor will be generated.

The DHT11 calculates humidity by measuring the electrical resistance between two electrodes.The humidity sensing component in DHT11 is a moisture holding substrate with the electrodes applied to the surface. When water vapor is absorbed by the substrate, ions are released by the substrate which increases the conductivity between the electrodes. The change in resistance between the two electrodes is proportional to the relative humidity. Higher relative humidity decreases the resistance between the electrodes and vice versa. The DHT11 converts the resistance measurement to relative humidity transmits the humidity and temperature readings directly.
