3.3 Steps to connect board and port in Arduino IDE.

To connect any board with Arduino IDE we need to first select the board and then the port in the Arduino IDE software.

Here, we will be learning to connect Arduino UNO board with the laptop using USB A to B cable.So to connect Arduino UNO board with the laptop we need USB A to B cable.

Note: We are using USB A to B cable because it is supported by Arduino UNO board.If there is any other board then may be the cable will be same or different.

1. Open Arduino IDE software.

2. Next,connect Arduino Uno with the laptop via USB A to B cable.

3.Now, select Arduino UNO board in Arduino IDE: Go to menu bar < tools <Board< Arduino AVR boards < Arduino UNO.

4. After, adding the board,we need to select the port now.

5. So, again Go to menu bar < tools <Port and then select the port which is supported by Arduino UNO.

Note: If the port is not coming,then go to device manager of your laptop and check if the Arduino Uno is connected or not as shown below: 

If,it is not connected or showing the same error as shown in the figure 2 then it means that your laptop is not installed with driver.to resolve this issue follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Firstly delete the Arduino IDE from your Laptop and again download the software. Please prefer downloading the Installer file not the zip file as I have told you.If at the time of installation it asks for an Arduino LLC driver to install please install that(Don’t uninstall it). 

Step 2 : If still it doesn’t work then below I am sharing with you some of the driver kit installation, install it and try updating your port drivers.
First download the driver kits from the link given below and then install the drivers after installing any , check the port in IDE
 
 
Step 3: If still not work then check your USB cable and Arduino.
