LED Symbol
The symbol of Led is demonstrated below:
As you can see in the symbol, Led have two wires i.e. anode and cathode.One wire is anode which is positive and another wire is cathode which is negative.
So, the anode leg will go to positive of battery and cathode to negative of battery as Led allows the current to flow in one direction.
Working of LED
In this case, When it is forward biased, the potential barrier gets reduced and the electrons and holes combine at the depletion layer (or active layer), light or photons are emitted or radiated in all directions. Below given image is showing the light emission.
