Most of the  breadboards have some numbers, letters, and plus and minus signs written on them.

What does that mean?

These labels help you to locate certain holes on the breadboard while building a circuit .

For example if you have used excel spreadsheet, the concept of this breadboard is exactly same. Rows, numbers and column, letters help you in locating the holes in the breadboard, just like rows & column in spreadsheet.

What does the Plus and minus sign on breadboard means?

  • This plus and minus sign rails are Power rails.

  • These rails are mostly indicated by red and blue line or Plus and minus sign.

  • These rails are used to provide power supply to the circuit whenever external battery is applied. It gives an easy access of power to any of the component or circuit connected.

  • The ‘+’ sign is for the positive supply or voltage supply and the ‘-‘ sign is for the ground supply.

  • Remember opposite power rails or buses are not connected with each other. If you want the positive and ground to be available on both sides then connect both the buses together i.e. positive with positive and negative with negative.

What does the letters and numbers on breadboard means ?

These letter and numbers helps to locate the position of individual hole in the terminal rail.
